About Us
The purpose of this site is to create a centralized digital location that organizes and distributes hip hop mixtapes.
Why hip hop mixtapes?
Since the introduction of Napster, digital media has rapidly changed how music is distributed. Initially the record labels fought free albums, now independent labels use them as effective tools to expose new artists or rejuvenate the fanbase of existing ones.
New technologies like the internet, fiber-optic bandwidth, home recording studios, and Bandcamp make it easier for music to be and distributed globally for virtually no cost. To me it makes sense to make it easier for artists to distribute their music and for fans to fill their iPods.

Advertising your mixtape in the featured section is a very beneficial way to promote your music.
The section provides you with the following benefits:
- Your music will be streamed via an embedded BandCamp music player with your mixtape listing. Example: "Be Happy"
- A permanent listing in the featured mixtape directory.
- A permanent rotating listing in the header of every page on HHDB.com
- A song from the mixtape will also be added to the "Recommend Listening" choices on the right column of the page.
